I read reviews on blu-ray players until I was sick of all of them. I finally ordered the new Toshiba BDX2700 Blu-ray player since I had just ordered a new Toshiba LED 55″ TV. When the player arrived I took it out of the box, plugged it in and it asked me how I wanted to connect to the internet, wired or wireless? I chose wireless thinking I am going to be here for a long time trying to figure this out. Instead as soon as I chose wireless it told me to push the button on the back of my wireless router. My wireless router is in another room. I pushed the button on the back of the routher and by the time I got back to the room where the TV is the wireless internet connection was connected. With this blu-ray player you get Blockbuster, NetFlex, VuDu and Pandora streaming radio that allows you to built as many stations you want. This player was drop dead easy to set up. I played Avatar in Blu Ray and it will knock your socks off the the picture. I also played the Eagles Farewell Tour I in regular dvd and the BDX2700 upgraded the video to very near blu-ray. If I was going to purchase another blu ray player I would for sure purchase another one just like this one. The big Toshiba 55″ LED tv is also just as nice as any Samsung LED tv that I have seen. I wanted a Samsung LED but when I found the Toshiba for about $700 cheaper and all 5 star ratings I decided on it and I am very very happy with my TV and Blu-Ray player.

Dvds on this player look almost like blu-rays. also it turns on my toshiba when i turn on my player. It will turn off when the tv set turns off. handy for sleep timer. you can turn this feature off on your tv.
it could be a little faster opening the dvd tray. but its not that bad
It also has wireless G,N built in. so you dont need to buy a adapter for it.

The picture and Internet setup on this box is top-notch. Great picture, easy to use, great set of features for the price. If you have a Toshiba television, the Regza-link feature works very nicely. My kids use the Netflix streaming, and I enjoy Pandora and the Vudu applications. Interestingly, there is a Pandora “native” app, as well as a Vudu Pandora app. I have not been successful in getting the Vudu Pandora app to remember my Pandora login information, but the “native” application works well. Perhaps an SD storage card is needed for the Vudu app? A small inconvenience.
I was also having problems like a couple other reviewers where I could not power on the unit without unplugging it and plugging it in again.. For me, it was a heat issue, as I had originally installed the player over my DVR. Since I have moved the unit to the other side of my entertainment console where it is cooler, I have not had any issues with it. I would buy another one.

Frequently you have to unplug then replug to get the machine to turn on. When running it works fine.

I should have heeded the warnings of other Amazon reviewers on this item. This is the first time I have had to return anything to Amazon out of over 100 purchases. The unit is very wide and very light. I didn’t have any problems with the remote as some users here have complained about the location of the volume controls. However like many others, the first time I got on Netflix and watched a movie, the player shut down on its own. I hoped it was a fluke but the next night the same thing happened. The following week, my wife complained of the same issue. Now here we are just over two weeks later and the unit will not power on at all. (Just to note….the player is not near any other devices that produce heat…it is sitting all by itself in an extremely well vented area on my entertainment center….about 10 inches away from my cable box.) I saw that some people that reviewed this player had to move it away from other devices so that it would stop shutting down. That is definitely NOT the case here.
Very frustrating….I had read an article in the newspaper here in Maryland (The Baltimore Sun) that reviewed this Blu-Ray player and the only negative part of the review was that there was no internal storage. Alot of the Amazon reviewers were spot on with it automatically shutting down…..which is a real pain because by the time you turn it back on, load Netflix, find the movie you were watching, hit play, and then wait for the movie to load…at least 3-5 minutes have gone by….that’s a long time when you are watching a thriller. I am sending this piece of junk back and getting myself a sony or something else. Anything but a Toshiba.
