The new DMP BD85 Blu-Ray Disc Player was built to replace the BD80 Blu-Ray. Similar to the BD80, the BD85 sports a full 1080p display with an up-conversion of 480/720p resolutions. However, the BD85 has higher resolution precision that makes the picture more vibrant and smooth.
The main difference between the two Panasonic Blu-Rays is the new built in wireless networking capabilities in the BD85. These capabilities are adaptable to DNLA, meaning, internet content, such as JPEG, AVCHD, WMV, can more easily be viewed due to a faster connection that in turn makes the VIERA Cast much more functional.

In early 2009 Sony released the BDP-S560 Blu-ray Player. It is a Profile 2.0 player that supports BonusView/picture-in-picture playback and BD-Live content. It has a Quick Start Mode which allows Blu-ray Discs to start within seconds. It can support high resolution audio formats and has a built-in 802.11n for a wireless internet connection. It is basically a step up from the entry level BDP-S360 Blu-ray Player.
The BDP-S560 has an attractive design with a black gloss exterior and touches of dark gray on the top and bottom of the player. The Open/Close button is located on the left at the top corner and will open up the dark blue front panel revealing the disc tray. The power button is found on the opposite side near the top corner. When the LG debuted the BD390 last year it was still only one of a handful of Blu-ray Players to incorporate Online Streaming Media Services. LG was one of the first to realize this trend and knew that just playing a Blu-ray Disc was not enough. So LG took its flagship Blu-ray Player, the BD390, and incorporated not only online streaming capability, but top of the line Video and Audio quality, and an unbelievable set of features. Including Built-in 802.11n Wi-Fi, 7.1 analog outputs, MKV-video file playback via USB, 1GB of onboard memory and much more. Making the BD390 not only one the Best Blu-ray Players on the market, and setting a standard for all other Blu-ray Player to be compared too.
The BD390 has a conservative design and look with a glossy black front panel. It has a large and easy to read LCD Display that is located in the center. Controls for playback and a USB port are on the front left of the player. The Remote Control is simple and easy to use, as is the user interface menu. You are given seven options to choose from: Movie, Photo, Music, My Media, Netflix, YouTube, CinemaNow, and Setup. Providing quick and easy access to all the player’s features and functions.

Denon has unveiled two new Blu-ray Players to be released by June of 2010, the DBP-1611UD and the DBP-2011UDCI. What is surprising is that both will be Full HD 3D compatible. This is surprising since Denon is usually slow of the mark when it comes to new technology. Not wanting to sacrifice quality in any way. But getting on board with the 3D trend seem like a safe gamble and like past Blu-ray Players, both will be universal players.
Another change Denon is taking is a reduction in price. Denon’s universal players have always been on a different price level than that of its competitors. With the DBP-1611UD, the price is listed at $399. While still higher than most entry level Blu-ray Players, but it is the lowest price for a Denon player.
