I bought it to access Internet TV (Netflix, Youtube, etc.) After 3 hours of struggling was not able to activate Internet TV.
Network connection – perfect.
Accept license agreement – YES (many times).
Internet@TV: enter: Samsung ADs
Samsung Apps: …. Loading …. Network Interference Occurred …. try again later ( many cycles ).
At some point – Everything in Spanish, still not going anywhere.
Have never seen such a buggy software (firmware). Nothing works.
Returning to Fry’s tomorrow. … May consider never buy Samsung again.

I have had no problems with it. It was easy to set up. The new software had to be downloaded after I hooked it up. Netflix worked fine. Pandora worked fine. The movie picture quality was good.
My biggest issues with this device so far are when I am trying to type band names into pandora, it seems slow and unresponsive. It works, but the button presses must be slow, otherwise the machine can’t keep up.
I don’t like the screen saver. I haven’t figured out how to disable it yet.
I chose this player because I have an australian blu-ray that my ps3 would not play. This device played it just fine.

It’s a couple of days that I’m playing with this device and I’m totally satisfied!
I bought it to access Netflix streaming and it worked out of the box. I just plugged in the network cable, powered on the player and after a few guided steps I was able to enjoy the movies in my instant queue and Pandora web radio.
Upscaling quality is really good, the only thing I don’t like when playing DVDs is that the player doesn’t restart from where you left but every time it starts playing the movie from the beginning.
I still have to try Blue Ray, YouTube and the USB connection… too many features and too little time!

I am just a common consumer so I can’t really compare this to other Blu-Ray players. However, the C5500 starts up and loads fairly quickly. Setup was simple and the GUI is fairly easy. The blu-ray discs I played produced an excellent quality image on my TV. DVDs upscaling to 1080P was okay, about as good as you can hope for. Online features were sort of hit or miss. It was easy enough to setup Netflix, Pandora, YouTube, and Blockbuster. However, I could not get audio to work. Audio from Blu-ray, DVDs, and even from HD Netflix videos was fine, everything else was mute. I tried calling Samsung, but this is such a new product that the customer support can’t support it yet. They could only suggest waiting for a new firmware to come out.
I would strongly suggest for people considering this product to wait a month or two for Samsung to begin supporting this device properly. It looks like it will be an excellent product for the price… once the bugs are fixed in subsequent firmware updates.
