Yes it appears to be a great product but I purchased this particular model because the dimensions fit the available space. Not even close. Over 3 inches off. They lied on the product description and that is unacceptable. If they lied about the dimensions, what else have they lied about.

I opened the Box – no cables no remote. I have a universal that worked fine – It took 10 minutes before it would start to play my DVD – I couild not even eject until it was ready to play! I set it up and then loaded a VHS tape. It would not play. I placed a blank tape, ate that tape, I thought well maybe the tape was old. What an Idiot I am – it ate the tape thjat I know was good.
I received it Feb -26-2010 about 11 AM and I am returning it on Feb -26-2010 about 1:00 PM.
DO NOT PURCHASE this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In spite of all the excellent reviews, there is one MAJOR DRAWBACK to this Panasonic Model DMP-BD70V Blu-ray VHS player….that is it is exclusively a PLAYER. Do not buy it if you plan to record TV programs on VHS and play them back later. It has absolutely no RECORING ability. You can PLAYBACK VHS tapes recorded on some other VHS recorder/player. Better have another VHS recorder/player or a good friend who has one who will record programs for you.
Regarding the playback ability — well for both Blu-Ray, and standard DVD and pre-recorded VHS — it does just fine. The instructions are somewhat spastic; but apart from it’s inability to RECORD VHS TAPES, it is a respectable player.
It can support Internet connection via your PC in several varied arrangements.

I bought this without looking at what it is ONLY A PLAYER — NOT A RECORDER. It works good easy to setup using HDMI but it is still JUST A PLAYER. If you want a PLAYER AND RECORDER do not buy this unit.

The Blu-Ray part is fine, and does a great job “upconverting” regular DVDs. But the VHS player won’t track the VHS tapes I tried, and there was no audio coming from them, either. Rather return it (and go without a DVD player during that time) I just resurrected an old VCR. Ultimately, I’ll convert my tapes to DVDs, so the VHS problem with this unit will be a moot point.
