This model only supports HDMI output. I was planning on using it in my family room where the TV is above the fireplace and I have component cables running from the cabinet to the TV hookup. But to my disappointment, it only supports HDMI and so I cannot use it. I may just end up using it as a second Blu-ray player in the basement.
This player is great if your Blu-ray player will be close to the TV.

I took a big gamble when I bought this product as I would not be using it for at least a year. Also, I live in Singapore.
Main reasons for my hurried purchase were a price drop of US$200 from US$999(Vann’s at the Marketplace) and that it was a Denon. The novelty of a Dedicated Transport was another attraction. However I was mildly disappointed when I read the words ‘MADE IN CHINA’ on the side of the carton as I had expected high end Denon products to be made in JAPAN.
Soon as I had made the DEAL with Amazon, I learnt that Denon had made available a firmware update for this model.I e-mailed them asking for a firmware update in disc form. All I got was a curt reply saying that it was available for download from the internet.
Denon should take a cue from either Sony or Toshiba on ways to appease or retain customers. Both these companies offer their firmware updates in disc form. The customer is given the choice.Fact that Sony and Toshiba are Big Companies and that they can afford the extra expense could be Denon’s excuse.
3 stars then, for the customer service(or the lack of it) rather than the player itself.

I’ve been tracking this BD player for sometime now an in reading up came across the attached review [...] which I think is very beneficial for anyone considering this player. [...]
It may have average DVD performance, but the key here is to understand that this player has “Blue Ray” functionality as its primary role and for that you have little out there that can touch this. Also, for those with a superior AVR (like the Denon 4308i) this is simply a no brainer…
I just ordered mine (yes from Amazon.com at a fantastic price of USD279) and looking forward to test this out with my AVR 4308i – will post an update just as soon as I’m ready to do so…stay tuned!

A futureproof BD transport (That means you need an Amp to do most of the work) that I’ve had for a half year. It has only needed one firmware upgrade since I bought it. (That’s Good!) It has played over 400 different titles and only had 2 situations. (Both of which could be handled; but I’m to busy using my machine. It doubles as a weapon. (still good)
I’m just sorry that you can get it for almost half of what I payed.

The sound is perfect, I have PS3 and watch bluray movies for over two years. The PQ is very similar, colors look more natural, but the sound, that’s where this thing shines. Denon and Onkyo, may say not a good combination but with my 875 sounds terrific.
Great product.
