Blu-ray disc players offer the consumer full high definition movies from the comfort of home. There are some new features on blu-ray players that weren’t available on DVD players.

Many blu ray players offer “BD Live” which is a connection to the internet to allow for an interactive experience – the blu ray you are watching must also have “BD Live”

Another feature is the ability to receive “streaming” movies from Netflix. If you are limited on budget and you are looking to choose features that are not necessary, the ability to stream movies from Netflix is one of them. Currently, Netflix is not streaming movies to your blu-ray player in high definition. This means that the quality of the movie you will be watching is DVD or even lower. The point of having a blu-ray player is to watch movies in full high definition so why someone would get one in order to stream movies from Netflix that are lower quality doesn’t make sense. It is possible that Netflix will eventually stream movies to your blu-ray player in high definition, but this will also depend on your internet connection and if you have download limitations as far as whether this is a good option for you.

Bottom line, blu-ray players offer an excellent movie experience. If you like “gadgets” and have the budget to pay for them, then go with the blu-ray player that has all the bells and whistles.
